City Councilman Dennis Moore and Eric Belanger have filed to run for Glen Rose mayor and three candidates have filed to run for Glen Rose City Council so far.

Belanger filed on Wednesday. His application lists him as being born in May 1971. His address is on Grand Avenue and he listed his occupation as “oilfield.”

Moore, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, is a longtime resident of Glen Rose and has served on the council and on the city’s planning and zoning commission. Earlier this year he was named Glen Rose’s “Citizen of the Year.”

Filing to run for two open council seats are former council member Sue Oldenburg, Laverne West — both of whom were unsuccessful in their 2012 campaigns — and Glen Rose Economic Development Corp. member Danny Chambers.

The filing deadline is at 5 p.m. Friday. Contact City Secretary Melanie Reese at 254-897-2272 for more information.
