The meeting marks the first time the seven-member body will convene to make decisions affecting the future of Glen Rose Medical Center.

Last week members took the oath of office and elected Chip Harrison president, John Parker vice president and Paul Harper secretary. The other board members are Gene Brode, Dr. Karen Burroughs, Ron Hankins and Brett Nabors.

After the panel hears any public comments and approves minutes of the last board meeting, Wes Rollen, chief appraiser of the Somervell Central Appraisal District, and the appraisal district’s attorney will address the board. They will brief members on the county’s current tax status, timelines, tax rates, potential bankruptcy impact and answer questions.

Glen Rose Medical Center CEO Ray Reynolds also plans to set up orientations for board members to brief them on hospital operations and financials.

Board members also will discuss required training in Texas open government laws, the application procedure for indigent care and take action on eliminating the public relations director position and “any subordinate positions.”

Other discussion and possible action items include moving the GRMC website in-house, consideration of the last board-approved budget and possible replacement of the hospital district current’s attorney.

The board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Glen Rose Independent School District Administration Building and is open to the public.
