How many times have you been gardening and suddenly felt like your hand or foot was under attack?

Those pesky fire ants show up just in time for spring gardening, so controlling them will be the focus of the next Somervell County Master Gardeners Community Horticulture Education Series.

The next program  is on Monday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Somervell County Senior Citizens Center.

The title of Master Gardener Christine Morgan’s program is “Understanding Fire Ants:  How to Identify and Control Them.”

Identifying and understanding fire ant behavior helps gardeners understand whether or not there is a problem and its extent. Imported fire ants disrupt native ecological systems, which greatly impact the landscape, including pasture land.

Come and hear what you can do to combat the fire ant invasion. The event is free and open to the public.
