Looking way back to when I was a little boy, I can remember well my grandmother on my dad’s side standing at her kitchen counter in her little shack of a home in Arkansas, working the dough to make wonderful yeast rolls.

We called my grandmother, of all things, “Mama Goose,” so to my family those delicious rolls have been affectionately known through the years as “Mama Goose’s Hot Rolls.”

When I was in high school I asked her to teach me how to make those rolls. She did. I’ve made untold numbers of batches of that bread since that time. I was told sometime early in my adult life that that same dough can be used to make cinnamon rolls. So I’ve also made numerous batches of cinnamon rolls through the years as well.

During the most recent Christmas season I made a few batches of cinnamon for for various gatherings of family and friends.  Once you’ve done it a few times and you get the “hang” of it, it’s really not a difficult task.  The only “tweaking” I do is with the icing, for which I use no recipe. That’s now purdy easy to do, too.

Last Sunday was the last Sunday of the month, which means at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship it’s time for our monthly men’s breakfast.  Clark Cole takes care of the devotional time at these meeting, and we all take turns at providing the meal.  I volunteered to do the cooking this go ‘round.

I was excited about the day. Not only would we start with our men’s breakfast, but I also had invited gospel singer Mitchel Jon from Nashville to share his music ministry with us during our worship service.  It was going to be yet another great Sunday at Cornerstone!

I decided to go ahead and make the cinnamon rolls late Saturday night, then cook the other stuff early Sunday morning. Upon arising Sunday, I put the pans of rolls in the over to begin warming while I prepared the other items. By 6:30 p.m., everything was ready to be loaded for the short trip out to Cornerstone.

Trying to be more conscientious about my eating, I didn’t eat a cinnamon roll at breakfast.  I saw some of the other guys gettin’ one, and when Mitchel arrived, he got one as well.  (I had told him Saturday night that I was making homemade cinnamon rolls.)

After our worship service, and after everyone else was gone, I decided to just eat a small part of one of the rolls.  I was horrified!  I don’t know what had gone wrong, but I’ve never IN MY LIFE tried to eat anything like it. (Stale jerky MAY come close.)

I’m tellin’ ya–if I COULD figure out how it happened, I could probably make belts that would rival the strength of any leather.

I made a batch of cinnamon rolls. They came out fine. (I’m relieved.)

Life’s an adventure.  I’m livin’ it up!  (And from now on, I’ll sample my cookin’ before offering it to others!)

    Had a taste of his NEW batch! YUMMMMMMY!
    We thank God every day for RandyMac and His God-led ministry….and whatever else he may be up to :)
