Letter to the Editor: We don’t need a hospital district

I cannot believe that we are going to create yet another organization to tax us even more than today for things we do not need and cannot afford

We do need a good emergency room and triage center to save lives when time is of the essence, but we do not need a hospital swimming pool (yes, really) and the ability to do heart transplants (an exaggeration but the point is valid).

If you put the hospital people in charge of building their own empire at the taxpayers’ expense, you are doing each and every citizen of Somervell County a great disservice.

Governments are already too big and most of them growing.  We do not need to add even more.

I am so proud of our hospital and what it has accompolished. My husband has Crohns Disease and we have to use the facilities 2 to 3 times a year, sometimes in an emmergency situation. I can’t imagine having to drive to another city for this!! Out city would really suffer without this shinning light. They are not trying to “build an empire” as one has said…only keeping it up to present standards that we all expect. The little that we would be taxed pales in comparison to what we would lose. VOTE YES!!
