Letter to the Editor: Families need a close hospital, so vote for the district

accesories-text-editor-hiWe have three young children, ages 5 years, 4 years and 22 months. We have had need for the emergency room at the local hospital on numerous occasions.

Our oldest seemed to be especially accident prone in her first several years of life, and we were very grateful for the nearness of a hospital such as Glen Rose Medical Center. You see, we reside in Walnut Springs and had we not had the medical center in Glen Rose, we would have had to drive to Clifton or Granbury for our medical emergencies. For us, the additional 15 to 20 minutes of drive time is a lot, especially when our child’s health and well-being is at stake.

We would like to urge the residents of Somervell County to consider families, such as ours, when voting for the hospital district. We know of many other families in and around our area that are grateful for the nearness of a medical facility such as the medical center in Glen Rose. We like to know that the option is there for us if/when a medical emergency arises, and we feel that Glen Rose Medical Center is a valuable asset for the community and for families like ours.
