img15If you have done any volunteer work for us here at the center this past year, we would love to honor you during this Volunteer Appreciation Week at our annual luncheon on Friday, April 26, at 11:30 a.m. We will have lunch and a drawing for prizes.

We have an Autoharp for sale. If you would like to add this vintage instrument to your collection, give us a call and make an offer.

Be sure and join us as we honor our mothers on Friday, May 10, at 11:30 a.m. We will have punch and cookies and we will have the Mother’s Day photos ready to pick up.

Our next movie will be another Robin Williams classic, Patch Adams, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14.

Our next dance will be this Friday, April 26, featuring Michael Cote. The doors open at 6 p.m. for some meet-and-greet time and the band starts at 7 p.m. There is a $5 admission at the door.

Winners of last week’s Forty-Two tournament were: Royce Stacy and Clark Stewart in first, Pat Thompson and Tamra Black in second, Dorothy Jo Osborn and Billie Flanary in third and Nancy Moore and Dortha Beck in fourth. Others playing in the tournament were: Loveda Swaim and Don Baker, Zula Hunter and Roger Jordan, Janelle Gartrell and Karena Eccles and Ann Parham and Marcy Capell.

Activities at the Citizens Center beginning April 29 are: chess and Bingo on Monday; woodcarvers, Zumba and sewing/quilting on Tuesday; Forty-Two tournament, utility assistance and blood sugar and blood pressure screening by Cherokee Rose Nursing Home on Wednesday; Zumba, chess and David’s shopping on Thursday; and bingo and Brookshire’s shopping on Friday.

Besides the scheduled activities, there are games, puzzles, quilting, Forty-Two and visiting going on every day.

If you know anyone who may need meals, transportation, an emergency response system, medical equipment, Food Stamp (SNAP), Medicaid or Somervell County Food Bank applications, utility assistance applications or any other senior-oriented services, please call or come by the center.

Remember that you don’t have to be a senior to come and enjoy all of our activities or eat lunch with us. Don’t forget to visit our website at www.glenrosesccoa.com for menus, activities, articles, links to other sites and lots of pictures, or “like” our Facebook page, “Somervell Citizens’ Center.”  Our number is 254-897-2139.
