The public is invited to hear Michelle Spodnik, a Trade and Business Development Specialist with the Texas Department of Agriculture, speak about how a Certified Retirement Community designation will help Glen Rose and Somervell County.

The program will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the GRISD Technology Center, 609 SW Big Bend Trail (U.S. Hwy 67 in front of Glen Rose High School).

The meeting will be held in place of the regular meeting of the Steering Committee for Economic Development in Glen Rose/Somervell County.

All members of the Steering Committee are urged to attend and invite guests.

Darrell Best, who had presented this program earlier to the city’s 4B board, invited Spodnik to the meeting. The members of the Committee for Economic Development said they are pleased to offer the opportunity for all citizens to better understand the advantages of  this designation and how it will help improve the local economy.

The committee, chaired by Larry P. Smith, meets each Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at the Technology Center to discuss ways to improve the local economy, bring jobs and develop a permanent program of economic development thru the private sector. Anyone interested is invited to attend. Current membership is 26 and growing.

We are not only a great retirement community.
We need to encourage more young parents to move here due to the quality schools and the many other advantages of raising their children here.
