Cancer support group holds bake sale, small health fair, garage sale this weekend

Special to the Current

The Somervell County Cancer Support Group has big things happening this weekend.

There will be a bake sale Friday hosted by the hospital in the hospital’s front lobby. If you can donate baked goods, it would be very helpful. You may bring them Friday morning or contact Darlene Chambers on Facebook or call her at 254-396-1187 if you need assistance getting your baked items to the sale. You may also contact Marilyn Phillips on Facebook or at 254-897-9252. They will be glad to make arrangements with you.

On Saturday, starting at 8 a.m., a mini health fair and huge garage sale will be hosted by the hospital. This event is designed to bring the Somervell County community out to help support the local cancer support organization. You may donate items for the garage sale by bringing them to the hospital parking lot Saturday morning.

Proceeds from the sales go to the Somervell County Cancer Support Group. The local organization helps with things like gas to and from treatments, prescription and other miscellaneous needs for Somervell County cancer patients. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for adding to the awareness and support of cancer. I’ve written two songs, one about cancer and one about going through trials and looking back on them. Reaching out for support and help, and the joy of having come up through affliction. Here are the links I hope you find them connecting, and possibly helpful.
