Texas humorist, musician, author and political candidate Kinky Friedman will appear this Sunday on the Cross Timbers Ag Show, a product of KTRL-FM 90.5 Tarleton State University Public Radio.

Friedman, who is running for Texas agriculture commissioner, will talk to host Bethann Coldiron at 2 p.m.

The weekly 15-minute show focuses on keeping the Cross Timbers area informed with the latest agricultural news, policies, interviews with industry leaders and commodities reports.

The Cross Timbers Ag Show launched in March. One of the topics Coldiron has focused on is the upcoming election for agriculture commissioner.

Coldiron said she is “ecstatic” about the Friedman interview and said it’s the “interview of a lifetime.”

“I really wasn’t sure it was going to happen,” Coldiron said. “I had been trying to contact his media adviser for a month. Last Friday his adviser got in touch with me and told me Kinky would love to do the interview.”

Friedman is well known for his country music career in the 1970s and for mystery novels he wrote, starring himself as the main character. In the mid-1980s, Friedman launched a career in politics and ran for Texas governor in 2006. Though he has never won an election, Friedman has said he is hopeful about his campaign for agriculture commissioner.

The Cross Timbers Ag Show airs Sundays at 2 p.m. with a repeat broadcast Thursdays at 7 p.m.
