Kathryn Jones is a veteran journalist who has written for The New York Times, Texas Monthly magazine, The Dallas Morning News, Dallas Times Herald and numerous national and regional publications. She is a recipient of the Nancy Monson Freedom of Information Award from the Texas Press Association and Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas for promoting open government. Jones also was named “Journalist of the Year” for 2010 and 2011 by the West Texas Press Association while she was the editor of the Glen Rose Reporter, and named the area’s best print journalist by Fort Worth Weekly. Other first-place awards from the Texas Press Association and regional press groups were for news writing, feature writing, column writing, headline writing and news photography. In addition, Jones is the author of the first journalistic book about the Amway Corp. In January 2013 she received a fellowship to the Reynolds National Center for Business Reporting at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Jones teaches journalism part-time at Tarleton State University.

 

 

 

Dan Malone

Dan Malone

Dan Malone, co-owner of the Glen Rose Current and a contributing editor, is a veteran journalist and winner of the Pulitzer Prize, journalism’s highest honor. He worked on the projects team at The Dallas Morning News, where his and a colleague’s series about abuses by rogue law enforcement officers won the Pulitzer for investigative reporting. Malone also was the News’ Fort Worth Bureau chief. Earlier, he worked as a staff writer for Fort Worth Weekly and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The winner of numerous other journalism awards, Malone also is the co-author of a book about death row inmates. He is assistant professor of journalism at Tarleton State University.

    Just came across the site while reading the Startlegram story on Comanche Peak. Looks good. I’m glad the two of you — Kathy and Dan — are doing well. You like the country life? I made many a trip there while at TXU; my sister lives in Tolar, just off whatever highway that is.
